This can become a habitual reaction. If we suffer
severe pain this can lead to depression, just as, if we are depressed we
can feel out of sorts physically.
The Alexander Technique offers the
possibility of acting in a different way by sending orders or
directions to ourselves which will allow something else to happen.
Instead of tightening, perhaps we can stop for a moment and allow
ourselves to release. We bring our conscious thought into the
process and find that we are taking back responsibility for ourselves allowing change.
